Albury 5 Light Pendant in Mission Bronze

Five arms drop from a chain-hung frame, loop round to carry each lamp, then cross back to meet the base of the framework. It is a quietly clever bit of design: the loops do the structural work and the decoration at the same time, so nothing is applied for the sake of it.

Each lamp carries a double shade. An outer linen mesh screen sits over an inner opal glass shade, which is the detail that makes this fitting work in a real room. The opal glass stops the lamp glaring through, and the mesh softens the edge again, so you get a warm umber cast rather than five bright points. It is the difference between a fitting you can sit under and one you squint at.

The mission bronze finish is a dark warm brown rather than a black, so it sits well against oak, exposed brick and darker paint colours without disappearing into them.
