How high should a pendant light hang?
There is no single correct drop. Ceiling height, the size of the fitting and whether it hangs over a table, island or open walkway all matter. Keep sightlines and head clearance in mind and judge the proportions as a whole. Read our pendant sizing guide.
Can pendant lights work with a low ceiling?
Yes, if the drop is short enough. Look for compact pendants, adjustable fittings or semi-flush alternatives where head clearance is limited. See our low-ceiling guide.
Integrated LED or replaceable bulb?
Both can be good choices. Integrated LED can enable slimmer designs; replaceable-lamp fittings offer simpler long-term lamp replacement. Compare the two.
Can I put a pendant on a dimmer?
Only when the lamp or LED driver and the dimmer are compatible. Do not assume compatibility from wattage alone. Read our dimming guide.
One large pendant or several smaller ones?
Either can work. A single fitting gives one strong focal point, while a row or cluster can spread visual weight across a long table or island. Choose by scale rather than by a fixed rule.
