A 5A round pin socket in brushed bronze, the traditional way to put table and floor lamps on a dedicated lighting circuit so they come on together from the door switch. It is a detail favoured by interior designers, and it makes a lamp-lit room far easier to live with.
The construction is as considered as the finish. A base unit is installed first and the brushed bronze front is added after decorating, which keeps the plate free of paint and plaster, and the fixings are hidden from view entirely.
